Lovely Rhonda, who commissioned paintings of tulips and hydrangeas, brought me tulips when she came to pick them up!
These inklings were a real challenge for me, especially the hydrangeas.
I combined a few techniques in the end — including the famed 'Stamping With A Tissue' strategy — to build up a sense of the depths of the flower heads.
So great to do something outside my comfort zone. One of my next commissions is a painting of David Bowie, so that'll be another total freak out — I haven't managed people's faces yet without reverting to some old habits of self-consciousness. Can't wait to see what happens!
